Kaiizen absorbed an education initiative in Brazil in 2006. We wanted to understand firsthand the impact of education in impoverished communities, and Brazil was a great a place to learn. We put people on the ground who helped us gain an understanding of what impoverished youth need to be successful. We provided financial and moral support for a select group of youth in Sao Luis de Quintunde, Brazil, as they worked to complete their high school education.
Financial support came in the form of paying their school fees and keeping them stocked with supplies. Moral support came in the form of annual trips to understand the community, the local customs, and to mentor the kids through difficult circumstances. The project ended in 2009 when all of the kids successfully graduated and we were honored to be there for their graduation ceremony. We learned valuable lessons that will become the foundation for a long-term mentoring project in Brazil and the volunteer trips to follow.
There are currently no trips planned for Brazil, but stay tuned for updates!
