Girl playing with bubbles

The idea of Kaiizen, a Japanese word for constant improvement, or doing a little better each day, guides what we do each day. Kaiizen was founded in 2004 by a group of college students, all dedicated to the idea that they could change the lives of underprivileged children. Savings accounts were drained, Kaiizen was formed, and a small army of supporters began to raise money.

On a surf excursion to Baja California in February 2005 Kaiizen brought toys and school supplies to the El Sauzal Orphanage. Returning from the short weekend of fun, sun, and soccer with the El Sauzal kids, Kaiizen was hooked, word spread and Kaiizen planned it's first student excursion in May of 2005, sixty people attended and the rest is history.

Since that first trip in 2005 Kaiizen has planned and carried out 25 student trips to Baja California. 2000+ students have joined us for a weekend of fun, culture, and service. The lives of over 500+ children are affected by Kaiizen every year. Schools have been built, orphanages refurbished, and children mentored. Since its inception Kaiizen has developed other programs around the world, please see our projects page to learn more.

project baja trips
Kaiizen's trips to Baja are our most sustained project. With over 2000 students served we have opened the eyes of many to the idea that service should be fun.
